Head Back To Dinosaur Island In Crytek T-Rex VR Demo

Forget Star Wars. Forget the year of the Wood Sheep. 2015 is the year of the dinosaur, and don’t let anybody tell you different. The giant reptiles are having a resurgence of late, and it’s of course spreading to the world of gaming. Now Crytek’s in on the action, showcasing a new VR demo - Back to Dinosaur Island.

Designed with the Oculus Rift Crescent Bay prototype in mind, this is an experience made to strap to your face and cower in fear. It looks as if you’re a tiny baby dinosaur, and it’s not too long until your nest antics capture the attention of a passing Tyrannosaurus Rex.

From the makers of Crysis and Ryse: Son of Rome, this is unfortunately just a tech demo at the moment. If they’ve gone to all the trouble of making it though, we would love to see this spun out into a full game. Prehistoric encounters are criminally underused, but here’s hoping Crytek is just feeling out demand.
