In late 2014, Xiaomi was dragged into a patent row by Ericsson. The company claimed that Xiaomi was violating eight of its patents pertaining to AMR, EDGE and 3G technologies in the field of telecommunication. On December 16 last year, the high court gave some relief to the company by allowing them to sell the smartphones that came with Qualcomm chipset on 'pro tem' (temporary) measure.
As a result of this, Xiaomi was free to offer Redmi Note 4G in India, but they were not allowed to sell the Redmi Note model that runs on MediaTek processor and supports 3G. Till now, the inventory of the same was still lying in the country. However, on Monday, Delhi High court allowed the company to send back the unused Xiaomi Redmi Note devices.
As per a PTI report, the company has a stock of 100,000 units that lie unused with Flipkart. These devices can now be sent back to their point of origin in Hong Kong. This decision has been passed after Swedish telecom firm Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson agreed to the arrangement.
