2K Sports has confirmed NBA 2K16 will be out on September 29th this year. The premiere basketball simulator will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360, with the usual raft of pre-order incentives to hook gamers in.
Players who pre-order NBA 2K16 ahead of launch will be able to head onto the court four days early, as part of what 2K has dubbed the ‘Early Tip-Off Weekend’. This covers people picking up the game online or in-store, and is joined by some exclusive in-game items, including 10,000 Virtual Currency and a MyTEAM VIP package consisting of limited Emerald and Gold booster packs.
Early access to the game leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth for those who plan to wait on reviews before pre-ordering, but this isn’t the first time this has happened. Last year’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was available a day early for pre-orderers as part of the ‘Day Zero’ edition, while EA has been running its subscription-based EA Access for a good while now.
“NBA 2K16 promises to be one of the most groundbreaking sports titles in video game history, combining exciting new features with uncanny realism," said NBA 2K’s vice president of marketing Alfie Brody.
The usual series developer Visual Concepts is back at the helm once more for NBA 2K16, which is arriving on September 25th for pre-order customers and September 29th on general sale, for PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
