Nexus 4, Nexus 10, and Nexus 7 2012 may not get Android M

Nexus 4

Google will reportedly set hard cut off dates for Nexus software support that will exclude some of its older devices from getting Android M.
The search company will finally get tough over which of its Nexus devices are to receive the Android M update and which will not.
That's according to a recent Android Police report, which cites "solid" (but of course anonymous) sources for the tip.
To date there's been a fair amount of hoping and guesswork for owners of older Nexus devices whenever a new Android version comes around. It seems Google will bring that to an end by announcing an Android M update guarantee for select Nexus devices.
This will probably occur at the Google I/O keynote address later in the week.
Apparently, Nexus phones will get major OS updates for two years and security patches for three years from the OS release date, or at least 18 months from the date of purchase in the Google Store.
The interesting point to note is that this guarantee will apply to old Nexus devices as well as new, which means that several high profile phones and tablets are about to become effectively obsolete.
If the report proves to be true, then the Nexus 4, Nexus 10, and 2012 Nexus 7 will not be getting Android M. However, they will continue to get security updates for a little while longer.
