Xiaomi Mi 4i users will soon receive a new OTA update this week which is said to fix overheating issues with the device. Though the company had started rolling out the OTA update (v6.5.4.0 LXI) to Mi 4i users, it was cancelled as many users faced new issues after updating their device to the latest system update.
According to a post on MIUI, a new OTA update (v6.5.5.0) will be rolling out with a fix for the overheating issues. It advises users to wait patiently till the OTA update arrives and to give feedback if after updating, the problem still persists.
In conversation with Technology Personalized, Jai Mani, Lead Product Manager at Mi India said, “We’ve heard from some Mi 4i users that their devices can get warm under strenuous conditions such as complex 3D gaming and benchmarking apps.” He adds, “To address these concerns, we’ve optimized our thermal control algorithms to better regulate the temperature. The new thermal controls adjust frequency, voltage and the number of cores in use depending on the chipset temperature.”
Those wanting to get their hands on the latest Xiaomi Mi 4i, can do so today and tomorrow on Flipkart, sans any registration. The Xiaomi Mi 4i is the latest smartphone from the company to enter the Indian market, priced at Rs 12,999. In terms of specifications, the Mi 4i features a 5 inch HD display along with a pixel density that goes up to 441ppi. Xiaomi claims that the smartphone has a higher color saturation than iPhone 6. It is a fully laminated OGS. In other features, the Mi 4i comes with Sunlight Display, a technology which allows the phone to do dynamic tone mapping, which in turn, keeps the image quality balanced in bright sunlight.
The device is powered by a 64-bit second gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. It comes with four performance cores at 1.7 GHz, and four power saving cores at 1.1 GHz. They have been designed by Qualcomm India. The device has 2GB RAM and includes 16GB on-board storage.
In terms of camera, the smartphone sports a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual tone flash and also includes torch feature for low light focusing. It also gets improved HDR feature. For those selfie lovers, the Mi 4i sports a 5MP front facing camera. The beautify feature included comes with tools like wrinkle remover, skin smoothening and so on. It also gets a selfie timer feature.
The dual micro-SIM smartphone runs on Android’s latest Lollipop-based MIUI 6. In terms of connectivity, the device includes Bluetooth 4.1, 802.11ac, GPS/GLONASS, Wi-Fi Direct and USB on-the-go. A 3120mAh battery completes the package.
